Governmental Affairs

The Delaware Credit Union League coordinates legislative and political activities for Delaware’s credit unions by establishing effective credit union involvement and participation in the public policy process.

On behalf of all Delaware credit unions, we monitor and advocate for (and against) legislation in both Delaware and Washington, D.C. to enhance the operations of federally chartered credit unions.

Additional responsibilities include establishing forums for credit unions and elected officials to effectively interact, such as Hike the Hill events; managing Project Zip Code, which matches credit union membership numbers with Congressional and state legislative districts; overseeing local activities of the Credit Union National Association’s political action committee (PAC), the Credit Union Legislative Action Council (CULAC); and executing grassroots campaigns in support of the credit union movement’s public policy objectives.

Hike the Hill

The League and its Governmental Affairs Committee continues to focus on defending credit unions’ interest in Congress and, when necessary, in the state legislature. We coordinate with the Credit Union National Association (regarded as one of the most effective lobbying groups on Capitol Hill) to personally discuss issues that could have a potential impact on credit unions with our Congressional Representatives during CUNA’s annual Government Affairs Conference.
