Innovation in Lending — Technology Is Changing Everything!

This presentation will look at the technological advancements taking place in the financial services industry. Ally Bank‚ USAA‚ Umpqua Bank‚ ING/Capital One are just a few of the players that are running hard for market share. However‚ there are players outside of the banking industry offering very attractive and competitive alternatives that are going to give traditional banking a run for its money. This session will give you a good overview of what those new products and services look like and prompt you to prepare and position your organization for a strategic counter.

Serve Your Members Well

If you don’t‚ someone else will. In credit union land we pride ourselves on how well we serve our members and how much they say they love us. This may be true (to a certain point) primarily because the same 20% that frequent the branches keep saying so. What about the other 80% that rarely ever visit a branch or have limited interaction with your CU? What about over 50% of members that do not have a checking account with you? And why are title loans and the person-to-person lending industry growing at a rapid pace while most credit unions across the country are fighting hard for direct consumer loan business? This session will take a lending approach in helping define “serving your membership” in this very competitive industry.

Young & Talented Employees: What They Want & How To Give It To Them!

Forget about products, services, and rates. Your credit union’s greatest asset is its PEOPLE. The employees who come to work each day need to be enthusiastic and inspired. This is especially true for Gen X and Gen Y professionals. In this highly interactive session‚ young credit union employees and executive management will have a chance to discuss the importance of fostering professional development with each other! Attendees will also walk away with insight and action steps to keep employees motivated to work for credit unions. A credit union only grows as much as its people are able to grow. If you’re not coaching your employees to succeed‚ your credit union will never reach its greatest potential.

Dick Carberry

Information Security and Defending Against Social Engineering

The session includes a list of security measures that you should already have in place at your credit union‚ as well as examples of active threats, exploits and techniques used by today’s cybercriminals and the various ways that you can help to mitigate these issues. The first step in being able to properly mitigate against computer security threats is to simply stay up-to-date with the knowledge of existing threats and how to defend against them. The second step is to educate your credit union team on the potential cybercriminal techniques. One of the primary methods used by criminals to gain unauthorized access to our networks and facilities is the use of social engineering. During this session‚ Dick Carberry will also provide real world examples of the social engineering methods used by criminals and discuss methods to defend against these attacks.
